More Than A Vanilla Love Story (Book Review)

Book: Key To My Soul
Author: Probal Mazumdar
Publisher: Maple Press

The title of the book and the cover design gives an impression of a romantic journey in the pages; however, the beginning of the story speaks of a physical assault to the protagonist giving you a hint that this book is more than just a vanilla love story. For me, the author has managed to hook me to the story right at the start.

As the blurb says, the protagonist Siddharth (Sid) goes back to find her childhood sweetheart in a state of coma. The story revolves around the flashback of childhood and letters that Sid should have received about 15 years back; and if he actually did that, his life would have been completely different.

It is no secret that Hazel will recover from the coma for a happy ending; but what is noteworthy is all the sub-plots that takes shape while the girl is in coma…well that’s what makes the story.

Nevertheless the shocking revelations in those letters are the events that kind of takes the story forward. The story has a good blend of flashback and present situations. It seems that the author has done good research, as the details chalked are very clear. The events listed down appears so unique and vivid that, at certain points you might think if the author is actually sharing the incidents of his life.

It is an interesting, light-read; language is simple. Basically, the story is all about realizing and acknowledging one’s mistakes, getting over the past and rectifying the unhappy past in order to ensure a better future.

Although, some of the events of childhood mentioned does not help in the pace of the story; though are not boring to read, it could have been avoided.

I received a copy from the author on behalf of The Book Club Members in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

My rating: 4 Stars

The story follows Viji, a grieving mother who loses her twins under mysterious circumstances. As she desperately searches for answers, she finds herself accused of causing the death of her friend’s toddler.  Enter Inspector Kanika, the determined protagonist, who is not only investigating the case but also grappling with her own personal loss after losing her unborn.  As the investigation unfolds, what seemed like a tragic accident takes a chilling turn, leading to an unexpected and unsettling conclusion.

Of Romance And Suspense (Book Review)

Image Credit Book: The Royal Roommate (Kindle edition) Author: PG Van Life is unpredictable. We plan many things but not everything happens as planned. Infact, most of the times life has surprises in store for us. The key is to play along and play it well. This is what you will find the protagonist -Amy doing in this book. Accepting the twists and turns life throws at her and running along with the stride. This the first book of PG Van that I have had a chance to read, and hence I didn’t have any set expectations. Good!  The story is about Amy, a young intern with a law firm (oh that just doesn’t matter). Turns out her new roommate has been replaced by an irresistible, sexy, tall and handsome hunk - Sid (now that’s what is important, right). There begins a love and hate – push and pull kind of chemistry between the two. Needless to mention, lust and love (in that order) blooms in the room. Interestingly, Sid is a spy and Amy is his suspect. However, from suspe...
