An Easy Read (Book Review)

Book: 13 Unusual Short Stories
Author: Brendon Faife
Publication: Kindle edition

An anthology is a blend of so many characters, genres, and thoughts. Brendon’s book – '13 Unusual Short Stories' is one such amalgamation of various streaks of thoughts. This book is available in the online (Kindle) format.

Grandma’s Touch will take you down the memory lane, but it ends on a jerking twist. The Call-Centre is a good piece that will surprise you towards the end. The Hearing Aid is a novel concept, that I have come across in this book.

The Untouchable Boy and Dancing Ramu are simple stories, relatable and quite predictable.  A Beggar’s Nightmare is a different one from the most prominent genre in the book. It also touches upon a critical social issue.

The highlight for me was The Seer. The story is written into three parts and makes an interesting plot. In fact, I wouldn’t mind reading an entire novel on this plot.

Though some of the stories are not really unusual, the amalgamation makes for a decent read. The writing is simple and plots of all the stories are neatly described. It is not difficult to feel the emotion of the characters, as they are well-defined. Most of the stories have a very rustic touch to it, which adds to the curiosity element to it. the cover is extremely intriguing too as if taking you to an unknown journey.

Overall the short stories are an easy-read and explore relationships and even more the supernatural elements in nature.

My ratings: 3 out of 5.

I received a review copy of the e-book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

A Soul Stirring Journey! (Book Review)

Image Source   Book: The Seeker Author: Karan Bajaj The climax of the book is just unexpected. Well that's not how you would expect me to begin a review, but it's simply not what I had anticipated. In fact with the twists and turns I actually had no idea how the book will end. Had completely given up all my presumptions. I'll be honest, first few pages were a little boring for me. Perhaps, because the beginning is slow or maybe because I thought this packing your stuff and going away is a 'very guy' thing. Alright, the fact is I was jealous of Max, that  he could just walk away from his corporate life towards a different life...... However, I continued to read; I was curious to know   how far does Max go in order to reach that state where he feels detached from the world yet one with every tiny bit of the universe. And boy what a journey that was! I enjoyed it :)
